I’m Louise and while I’m not a Script Frenzy ML, I’m one of the NaNoWriMo MLs who is sticking her tentative toe into scriptwriting this year. I’ll be helping Ray with the C’ville Script Frenzy and acting as the WH representative.
First of all, what is Script Frenzy?
From their website:
Script Frenzy is an international writing event in which participants take on the challenge of writing 100 pages of scripted material in the month of April. As part of a donation-funded nonprofit, Script Frenzy charges no fee to participate; there are also no valuable prizes awarded or “best” scripts singled out. Every writer who completes the goal of 100 pages is victorious and awe-inspiring and will receive a handsome Script Frenzy Winner’s Certificate and web icon proclaiming this fact.
Even those who fall short of the page goal will be applauded for making a heroic attempt. Really, you have nothing to lose—except that nagging feeling that there’s a script inside you that may never get out.
I can tell you from my NaNoWriMo experiences (2007-present) that this sort of endeavour is a great deal of fun and having a social group to share it with makes it ever better!
We’ll be hosting “writeins” at WriterHouse and Live Arts throughout the month which I would encourage everyone to check out, literally a place and time to meet up, write, talk and work on our scripts. If you work better alone, that is absolutely fine, feel free to use the writein time to ask advice, opinions or give it to others who might be struggling. Or not, it’s all good and whatever gets you to 100 pages, that’s all that matters!!
First of all, if you haven’t already, you need to make an account on www.scriptfrenzy.org If you have participated in NaNoWriMo, then you already have one and can log in using your NaNoWriMo username and password. Ray awesomely got us our own region: USA::Virginia::Charlottesville (http://www.scriptfrenzy.org/eng/node/4167710), make sure to set it as your home region. There is a Google calendar there listing currently scheduled writein dates and a forum for us. Once you join the group, Ray can send emails to the participants in the region through the Script Frenzy website.
