To be a director for a 24/7 play you have serious artistic chops, you have to trust your artistic intuition, and your artistic intuition has to be good. But, well, wait… not you, the reader. But, our top notch directors have to do all that, and be all that… and they can… and they will. You, the audience, can sit back, have a drink, and watch it all come to life!

Their challenge is to direct a play in less than a day. Your treat is to be entertained.

That’s our line our line up of 7 directors for 24/7 — on January, 27, 2024 at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center — they are creative, smart, fast on their feet, experienced theatrical artists.

They will each get a play that was just written overnight, the night before, randomly assigned and each director will set out to bring it to the stage. 7 new plays in all. One after the other for an evening in the theatre unlike any other. All fully rehearsed… in less than a day.

It’s really kinda magic; it’s theatre; it’s art.

And that’s what we do.

Don’t get confused. We have the best playwrights. Their challenge is to write a play overnight that will be fully produced the next day. Your treat is to be entertained.

There will be a theme randomly generated for the event, and each will get a unique prompt; and a with that, they will set out to write the best play of their lives… overnight.

Then we randomly cast the show with talented actors, directed by wonderful directors and filled with a super production crew.

It’s really kinda magic; it’s theatre; it’s art.

And that’s what we do.

Serenity Hill residents dig into their own memory errors and social biases. With special help from “my brother David” the home tries to become a better place to live… for everyone in the house.

Serenity Hill is a long term assisted living facility, with acute care, memory care and specialty care units, on the east coast of the United States. Serenity Hill began as a play. Written for the stage. To be performed live on stage.

As a play, it was in development with Hamner Theater until Covid-19 put live performances on hold. Serenity Hill now finds its debut in a new format with new dialogue, and current events.

Serenity Hill: In the Pandemic is a series of 20 minute episodes, written and produced in real time.
